Uganda Mission 2015 - Sunday 24th May
Today marked the start of the mission! We were up bright and early for breakfast and devotions. This week we will be visiting three villages – the first of which is Kabujogera. Kabujogera Rural Evegelical Church, our host church, is set on a hilltop which made for a rollercoster arrival but we were rewarded with a stunning 360 degree panorama!
Tim kicked off the service with a powerful message on grace based on 2 Cor 12:9 - “His grace enables me to am what I am” and “His grace is not in vain towards me”. Following on from this we had a time of powerful time of worship and dancing. New giftings were found in three members of the team!
Pastor Bob expanded on Tim's message of grace using the example of Peter jumping out of the boat to illustrate how grace empowers you to leave the world behind and come to Jesus. An altar call was given and there was a good response - lives were changes!
After the service the team distributed aid to members of the congregation. Many of the children were excited to receive new items of clothing and the adults received books from Reinhard Bonkee, Billy Graham and others to help them in their walk of faith.
Pastor Robert, whose church we were preaching in, invited us to his house and fed us with an amazing selection of local food! The view from his house over the hills was beautiful!
In the afternoon we setup the crusade – the backdrop to which was the moutains! New friendships were formed by MJ and Ethan who taught the children some new dance moves! We were treated to a selection of local choirs and songs. Later Eva and Carole led praise and worship on the main stage.
MJ gave his powerful testimony and described how Jesus came into his life and radically transformed it! Finally Jon shared the story of Zachaeus with the crowd – he explained how Jesus loved Zachaeus despite him being an outcast. People were saved and it was evident that God has begun to break the fallow ground.
